By Charlie Fisk They just follow orders. By the way ICE is the Border and Immigration Service. You can't accomplish anything by renaming it. Dismanlting them won't accomplish anything either. What in the heck is this stupidity all about? Lack of education?

By Charlie Fisk ICE aren't the NAZI's. They are The US Customs service and work to prevent illegal importation of drugs and weapons mostly. They also prevent terrorists and other people from crossing into the US illegally. They don't even hassle people that come here legally. What is the deal with thinking that they are bad guys? They are Homeland Security, that's all. How did everyone get that mixed up?

By Henry Bennett The actions of ICE in the current crisis have a lot to do with the opinions people have of them. I agree that they are not Nazis, but they sure do act like Nazis sometimes - "just following orders" is NOT a good thing when the orders are resulting in tearing families apart! There are times when disobeying orders is actually a GOOD thing!

By Charlie Fisk Should they all just stop doing their jobs? Should they all go on strike? I want to understand what it is you think that these police officers should do.

by anon-a4e4 I wonder whether your choice of words comes from an ignorance of history of if it's intentional. If the former it's sad - those words are literally exactly what the Nazis say and it's been an almost cartoonish defense on TV shows for 50 years for people who are obviously guilty, so it seems we really are doomed to repeat history. If the latter, you really should be more careful who you throw your lot in with.

By Charlie Fisk Feel free to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I won't say another word. If having laws against illegal entry to the United States is something you disagree with, you are free to protest that as well. I just said that the officers are doing the job that was assigned to them. They can't break the law or they won't have a job. It seems unfair that the individuals who are charged with protecting us from harm are the ones that we are blaming for doing what we have asked them to do. Should they all be fired and asked to go home? I'm not sure what is being asked for here. Can you explain?

By Kevin Basner They break the law plenty of times but their senior officers let them get away with lawlessness because they are lawless themselves!

by anon-a4e4 I'm not sure if you understand the problem. The argument "they just follow orders" is invalid. Any individual following an order has the responsibility to think for themselves if that order is illegal and/OR immoral. Illegal isn't enough - the German passed laws making their atrocities "legal" in Germany, does that excuse the people who served in the SS and committed them? You have a choice. If someone says "it's legal to shoot this baby, here is the law" would you say "he just followed orders"?

Anyway, the ICE officers aren't in this situation yet, but they are not that far away. Tearing screaming babies from their parents, sending them to Wyoming and deporting the parents in the meantime is definitely on the edge, maybe over, where I would refuse an order or quit my job.
