The Republicans like to promote themselves as the party that represents religious and specifically Christian values. Is that accurate?

By Morgen Michaels ummmm you seem to be very confused about what Christian values are...
Picture?type=square
By John Robert Fleming well, inform me how I am confused?
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio Oh, this dude doesn't even know what a true Christian is!
Picture?type=square
By Dan Anderson Vincent - we had better not inform him that his hero, Jesus, was a liberal, then! It might blow his mind!
Picture?type=square
By Kevin Basner LOL he would yell FAKE NEWS! :D

Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio "Protection of men being allowed to keep that which they produce (pro- tax cuts)"

What do "tax cuts" for these Capitalist ANIMALS have to do with Christianity? I'll tell you...NOTHING!
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey Vincent, You are wrong. Men and women should be allowed to keep the fruits of their efforts. If they choose to share those fruits either though benevolence or fair and equal taxes imposed by vote of the majority of society, they then are blessed.
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio If you make a great deal of money operating in our society, then you OWE society, and must pay some of it back.
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey Vincent. By what authority? We are not a Communist state.
Picture?type=square
By Dan Anderson Mark - then why does the U.S. collect taxes from its citizens? Where should your government obtain funds in order to operate?
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey You missed part on the comment, “fair and equal taxes imposed by vote of the majority of society” the problem is everyone determines what is fair and equal differently.
Fair, is it fair for all pay the same rate? I say yes. Is it fair to charge higher rates based on higher income? I would say no.
Is equal determined by percent paid, I say yes. Is equal based on burden, no..
Picture?type=square
By Andrew Herzman "Men and women should be allowed to keep the fruits of their efforts" Then get rid of alimony payments.
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey You must be paying the “tax”on the formerly married.
Picture?type=square
By Andrew Herzman It's extortion, not a tax.
Picture?type=square
By John Robert Fleming the majority(mob) has no right to my labour. It is slavery for them to take it.Humans should be encouraged to voluntarily give charity, and Christians have a solid history of doing so. Coercion by the State is not charity
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio You have a choice...either you give it up through taxes, or the masses will take it from you, physically. Seems like an easy choice to me...you are OUTNUMBERED.
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey You sound like the authoritarian that you attribute to Trump.
Capitalism has made the US the most wealthy nation on earth. Give me an example where mob rule or even organize socialist/Communist socialites have acheived such general prosperity and advanced technology.
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio Eventually, since my people have the numbers, we WILL be a Socialist country. When that happens, the rich Capitalists will pay their fair share in taxes. We ALL hafta pay taxes, but the rich among us should pay more. It's only logical to accept that reality.

Technology has nothing to do with Capitalism.
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey You are sounding very tribal, you want your tribe to raid my tribe because it’s easier then gaining your wealth by your own efforts, the guns give you courage. When you have taken all the wealth and squandered it as well as destroyed those who created it , you will know true poverty. The ultimate greed is taking what is not yours, stealing at the point of a gun is not a true Christian value.
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey Oh, by the way, which tribe advanced technology? Whitney, Fulton, Marconi, Bell, Edison, Ford, Bardeen, Brattain and Shockley, Jobs to name just a few, they were not socialists.
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio Perhaps. But, I notice that you mentioned Shockley...did you know that he also had the dubious distinction of being an avowed racist?
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey The bottom 50% of our citizens county pays only 3.3% of all income tax, and you want to take more from the other half who already pay 96.7%?
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio Yeah, I heard that JUNK on Fox "news". Do you really expect me to believe it?
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey You can deny the source data from the IRS if you wish, but you would be wrong.

https://taxfoundation.org/summary-latest-federal-income-tax-data-2015-update/
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio Well, suppose the upper 50% pays most of the taxes...so what? They have a lot more, so they can afford it. How about the upper 2%, who have billions? Am I supposed to "sympathize" with those Capitalist ANIMALS as well? They have too much, and they don't need it.

What about you? Are you part of that 2%? Or even, the upper 10%? If not, then why do you defend those animals all the time? Do you really believe that they are "crying" for you? Trust me, they don't give a damn about you, so why do you care about them? Sounds like you are suffering from the "Stockholm Syndrome"!
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey There is no suppose, it is documented. So, if someone has more of something, it’s morally acceptable to just take it ?
Top 1% pays 37.8%
Top 5% pays 58.%
Why are Capitalists animals? They produce the wealth of the nation that you don’t appreciate and cannot duplicate without they. What Capitalists want is produced by hard working people making an honest wage. What the Capitalists don’t spend is invested in new enterprises or loaned out to those needing funds for a variety on needs.
What I am is not relevant to the discussion, it would be like me asking you if you are part of 50% paying only 3.3% and demanding more of those who are carrying the load. The Capitalists have to give a damn about me it they want to keep me as a customer, if they don’t another Capitalist will desire my business enough to provide me a better service, quality or price. A socialist has never produced any food, shelter, or clothing for me. Why would I want to support them?
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio The Capitalist may be concerned that you like their product, but that is whee their concern ends. Why you people care about them is beyond me. You seem to have bought the Republican narrative hook, line and sinker!

Nobody wants mob violence so, in order to prevent it, the government MUST tax the rich folks heavily. If not, then you may just have the mob violence that you are afraid of.

By Andrew Herzman "Capitalism has made the US the most wealthy nation on earth."...
No, free labor from slavery, free natural resources taken from the natives, underpaid labor, and the ability to pollute the environment for financial gain has made the US the most wealthy nation on earth.
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey Free labor from slavery was ended 150 years ago, feel proud to live in a nation that fought a war to abolish it.

Natural resources are present in various countries on earth and are not free, there are huge costs involved in extraction and processing those resources.

The native americas were displaced by the Spanish, the French and the English as well as by the population growth in the US. This is not a unique phenomena in human history as it has happened in every case were a more advanced culture comes in contact with a less developed culture. I don’t claim it is right, but people are now more aware if this problem then in the past and more likely to take steps to mitigate the problem.

Over the past 40 years great steps have been take to clean the air and water in the US to the point it is far cleaner no then previously. Also great strides have been taken in conservation of energy with the technology to develop more efficient autos, trucks, trains, planes etc.

The underpaid labor is well fed, clothed, housed and typically have heat, refrigeration , transportation, AC, computers, cell phone. If YOU want to earn more, improve your skills, gain education, improve your discipline and dedication in your work, you will be paid based on you increased productivity.
Take action, complaining accomplishes nothing.
Picture?type=square
By Andrew Herzman "Free labor from slavery was ended 150 years ago"...so? Doesn't change the fact that America is rich partially because of the free labor that happened for over 100 years.

You can't extract resources without them being there.

The native Americans were displaced by WHITE EUROPEANS.

...and Trump and the Republicans are fighting to destroy all the steps we took in the past 40 years.

LOL...right, there's no such thing as homeless people. There's no such thing as people who are educated with skills and are poor. (sarcasm).

Take action? You can't force people to hire you.
Picture?type=square
By John Robert Fleming I am an excellent shot
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey As am l, but with Vincent all you have to do is offer some pot and he will mello out and become compliant.
Picture?type=square
By Vincent D'Emidio It's about a lot more than pot. If that was my only motivation, then I would be a Libertarian, not a Socialist.

Oh, and by the way John, I am a gun owner as well, and I'm not the only one. Visit the South Bronx sometime...if you have the backbone...that is a REAL Pro-Socialist neighborhood, and it is the REAL "Gun Country"!
Picture?type=square
By Dan Anderson John - so, your rendition of Freedom of Religion only applies to Christianity but not other forms of Abrahamic faith? You do know that Muslims worship the same God of Abraham as Christians and Jews, right?

So you want tax cuts? Who will pay for schools, defense, roads, infrastructure, national parks and protect the environment from polluters? Who will pay for the labor laws and the OSHA requirements which protect workers from dangers in the workplace? Who will pay for libraries, police agencies, fire agencies and other organizations which are good for the citizens of the country in which you live?
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey The “taxes”refered to in these discussions is generally the Federal income tax.
Smaller less intrusive Federal government is the goal. Much of what is done today is often duplicated by multiple agencies, done wastefuly , and in many cases is unneeded and/ or lacking efficiency . The State and local governments are much better equipped to respond to the needs of there citizens over the one size fits all model offers by the Feds. Defense is one of the few areas required, rightfully, by the Constitution and needs to be maintained.
Picture?type=square
By John Robert Fleming Moslems , at least most of those I talk to, wont even read the Psalms-They dont seem to think we have the right idea of Gods nature..Taxes are wasted on schools
Picture?type=square
By Mark Tracey The waste in public schools is due to the lack of accountability of spending and results. Private, religious schools and home schooling generally provide better academic results with lower expense per student.
Picture?type=square
By Andrew Herzman "religious schools and home schooling generally provide better academic results".

Really? Creationism is accepted in academia?
Picture?type=square
By John Robert Fleming we should separate school from state!
