Should the President (whoever wins) allow the $100 billion automatic spending cuts in January to take effect?

As part of a deal reached last summer to end the debt ceiling crisis, $100 billion in automatic cuts are scheduled to hit the budget in January unless the two parties can compromise to stop it. The cuts would reduce the deficit by $1 trillion over ten years, but they may throw the economy into another recession. Should the president allow the cuts to take effect?
