At what age is it OK to leave your children at home alone for several hours?

By Dan Anderson Depending on the child and mental maturity, the average state seems to be set at about 11 years old. Having been a latch-key kid at age 5 and up, I would have to agree that at least some supervision is vital until at LEAST 10 years old.

By Kirby Liberty Harris Depends on how mature they are. Two of my children would have been fine being left at 8 or 9. The other not til she was 10. Some might be 13 and above. Age is arbitrary.
