School won't be recognized as Catholic by Church after it refuses to fire a gay teacher as they ordered, says they must follow Church teachings. Is that fair?

By Elspeth Dowell More and more people are now realizing that gods and religions were invented by people for human purposes. The main purpose of these inventions is to keep the poor and downtrodden in their place, and to allow the rich and powerful to become more rich and powerful. There are way too many people in the world. Gay sex does not cause pregnancy. So you see, if gay men were all forced to father children, there would be more and more poverty.
If consenting adults love one another, they should be together.
Cancelling the school's Catholic status just shows how rigid and behind the times religions generally are.

More and more people are stupid, don't know what they're talking about, and parade the world with mortal, simple minded, bog standard rubbish.

By Elspeth Dowell And who gets to decide who the stupid people are?

By Mark Tracey The church has the right to set its own policy regardless of what the prevailing sentiment happens to be. The school can still continue its operation, just not as a Catholic institution. The church cannot be forced to accept a policy that violates its principles.

By Elspeth Dowell That's all true, Mark Tracey. Maybe, when the old ways are seen as so unfair, people will continue to start 'new branches' of old religions. Maybe more and more religions will have female and or gay Priests and Imams???

By Mark Tracey It is not a matter of fair or unfair, it is a matter of church principles based on doctrine. Women will have less problems then Gays with the possible exception of Islam which will deny both.

By Kirby Liberty Harris You can't prove religion was invented by man. It could have been created by a God, an alien or a being from another dimension, which would be a god to us.

By Elspeth Dowell You can't prove religion was invented by a god or an alien. It could have been invented by humans. Since all religion helps the wealthy and powerful, it seems most likely that it was invented by those wealthy humans.

By Kirby Liberty Harris Wrong, religions do not always benefit the rich. When abused, yes. But many religions work to help the downtrodden and poor.

By Kirby Liberty Harris And no, no one can prove rather a religion was created by man, a god or an alien.

By Elspeth Dowell Kirby L H, They only help the poor on condition that the poor say their prayers, and learn bible quotes, and go to religious services, and give up babies born out of wedlock, and take severe beatings. Even in the 1990s in parts of Ireland, pregnant girls were forced to go the nunneries, and weren't allowed to keep their babies. In Canada, Christians in the 1960s forcibly took children from native families. Those children sometimes took their own lives, or became alcoholics and drug addicts.

By Kirby Liberty Harris WRONG. Not at all faith traditions have conditions to help people like having to say prayers or learn bible quotes. Not sure what faith groups you are on about.

By Kirby Liberty Harris Give up babies born out of wedlock and take severe beatings????? WTF? Not the faith groups I am familiar with. Maybe some with fringe teachings.
