It seems it has been a while since you last read the 2nd amendment. Allow me to remind you of the final few words, "Shall not be infringed." You don't support the 2nd amendment. You support what you personally think the 2nd should be, while condoning the infringements of the liberties and freedoms of your fellow countrymen. That-that is your position is fine. We're all entitled to our own opinions, but you're advocating Statism, not freedom, and certainly not for the 2nd amendment.
No, this is an idea rooted in reality. It is certainly an uncomfortable notion. I don't necessarily relish in the idea that I live in a society that is so sick children are mass murdered enough to warrant it, but pretending we don't puts the kids at even more risk. The only other option is to remove liberties from law abiding individuals. I have 4 children in public schools, 5 by next school year. As much as I love my children, as much as I work to keep them safe, and as much as I worry about their safety when it is out of my control; none of that trumps the personal and individual liberties and freedoms of my neighbor. I will not willingly trade away my rights, liberties, or freedoms for the half-assed promise of security, especially when the actions of the cowards at Broward County S.O. are the example of that security.
