I might've voted for "Deep Space / Stars" if you asked a question about the far-away future, but since you asked about the "next 50 years", I would say that we should go to Mars and explore our own Solar System.
Yeah, I've heard that it was very nice. It has the ethnic flavor of New York, but it doesn't have the dirt, crowds or traffic that New York has. And now, with Herb being legal there, it must be a party town.
...and just who says that the things I mentioned, "freedom, liberated attitudes", etc. are..."unsafe"? What does my having pre-marital sex have to do with old ladies trying to cross the street safely? What does my pot-smoking have to do with little girls being molested by some monster? My point is that we CAN have both...freedom and security.
"if you are young and strong a rowdy society may appear 'fun'".
Of course it does, that's why I always looked for that kinda thing in those days, but, not everything about the Bronx in the 1970s was "rowdy". There was a lot of freedom then that we don't have now. You could smoke a joint in the streets, like it was a cigarette, in mostly downtown areas. People seemed more liberated about that, and about sex, and about abortion, and about race relations...and about EVERYTHING that we Baby-Boomers enjoy.
When dealing with the public, sometimes you hafta "bite your tongue", so as not to offend anybody. That principal was probably thinking, "She doesn't look Jewish, so she'll probably agree with me", but it turns out that she didn't "agree".
William, Mr. Herzman asked you, " Who are YOU to decide how much?" Mr. Dykeman, that was a very good question. How much is too much? You seem to be intelligent...maybe you should decide. But wait! Jerry "As dumb as his daddy was" Fallwell thinks he knows enough about Marijuana (something that he NEVER dealt with in his life) to say that NOTHING is the appropriate amount. Or, how about a big Marijuana dealer, who says that tons and tons are enough (so that he can make more money).
So, who should decide?
